Lutheran Church–Canada (LCC) is urging its members to lift up the people of Haiti in prayer as they deal with the aftermath of the massive and deadly earthquake that occurred in western Haiti on August 14, 2021. The Haitian Civil Protection General Directorate (DGPC) reports at least 1297 people dead and 5,700 injured, with numbers expected to increase.
In a release today, Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR) announced that “CLWR’s partners on the ground are already responding by helping ensure emergency shelter, sanitation, hygiene and trauma care for those affected.” CLWR has joined forces with other Canadian charities, through the Humanitarian Coalition, to appeal for funds and rush emergency assistance to those dealing with the devastating aftermath of the earthquake. Donations can be made by visiting clwr.org/Haiti. Donations can also be made by phoning the CLWR office at 1-800-661-2597 (Monday to Thursday, 9:00 – 16:00 CDT) or by mailing a cheque to 600-177 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0W5. Donations will also be forwarded through our congregation.
